Chromebook Client- for Public Access Computer Management.
Monitor were delighted to have been able to work closely with Google so as to provide the market with a Chromebook Client to work with our Public Access Computer Management. With Chromebook making a real splash in the library environment and many site look to use Chromebooks for public access this was an important step forward. In particular the New Zealand Library market, which uses Chrome books in the majority of council libraries, required this investment.
The Monitor Chrome Book client allows a Monitor system to restrict access to users without proper authorisation and authentication, and limit or provide extra access to the chrome books based on rules concerning the user type or computer group or computer type.
Number of sessions or amount of time on the Chrome Book can be configured for extensions provided based on a site and or user requirements.
The system provides the ability to lock the device for a period during your session, should you need to use a bathroom or pick up a print job or talk to a friend. The system will provide a series of configurable warnings about time remaining in your session and suggest that you save any sessions when time is running short. Staff can send messages to the users during a session, reminding them to pick up books or whatever the message may be. Session will be automatically closed or users can also end a session themselves should they wish.
At the end of the session the system will remove all private data and history ensuring the device is clean when the next user signs in.
Monitor were able to work closely with google and access a strong API to allow the system to work so effectively, our team enjoyed working with Google on this project and we are delighted with the results.
The system also allows users to print seamlessly from the chrome book using the Monitor Print Chrome Extension solution for an easy and comfortable user experience.
The Monitor Print Chrome Extension is available in the google store.
