Horowhenua District Council
Monitor’s library solution is a world beater!
Monitor has recently installed their full library solution in the Horowhenua District Council’s Levin site called Te Takere. Te Takere is the Horowhenua community’s multi-purpose culture and community centre. There are three libraries within the district council – Te Takere, Shannon and Foxton. At the completion of Te Takere; Shannon and Foxton will also have Monitor’s library solution installed.
Patrons and casual users can access the various online Monitor products such as My Monitor, My Reservation and Monitor Web Print via the Te Takere website. Here the user will find links to the external Monitor sites where they will enter their login details to access each product.
Te Takere’s solution is believed to be a world first for libraries. Part of the solution Te Takere has is Monitor’s new Reservation and management system, My Reservation. This pilot product is a powerful booking and management system designed to control the use and allocation of public access computers, facilities and assets. Patrons and casual users at the library will have the ability to book PC’s, meeting rooms and equipment in the library using public booking station or on-line from anywhere.
Using Monitor’s integration to the Koha Library Integration System, My Monitor will allow patrons to pay for fees and fines and other council expenses on-line. They can also add value to their account and view statements. 3M SelfCheck stations at the library will also provide a source of paying for fees and fines, via the Monitor account or EFTPOS.
Patrons and casual users will have the ability to submit print jobs from their own internet-enabled device such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet using Monitor Web Print.
AL7000 Interactive Kiosks have been installed and will allow patrons to add value to their accounts using EFTPOS, credit card or cash. Casual users can also pay for casual user tickets to pay for goods and services in the library.
Te Takere is also the new travel centre for tourists and locals to pay for services. Using Monitor’s iPOS application, users can purchase bus tickets, ferry tickets and tourist travel and attractions using their Monitor card, EFTPOS, credit card or cash. In the future iPOS will be used to pay for dog licenses, parking tickets, speeding fines etc.
