Free document and internet quota lifts card use
South Australia’s 120,000 TAFE students are using free credit on their cards for print and internet.
Students buy the photo ID card at enrolment to use for campus printing and copying as well as internet downloads.
Monitor’s Supervisor Net adds quota to student cards for these activities, depending on their course and the number of subjects they take.
Paytec’s Matt Ryan believes the move to free quota has lifted the use of the card.
“We found last year, when we introduced quota that there was a higher volume of transactions in printing and copying on campus, instead of students going to off-site on-demand businesses.”
After the quota runs out, students can load their card account using Monitor cash autoloaders. The card technology has to work over 25 campuses, with the distance between sites up to 15 hour’s drive across the state.
“It is a massive installation,” says Matt, with 12 Monitor autoloaders and 190 MB20 card terminals.
