Horizon Integration

Monitor announces the integration of SirsiDynix’s Horizon LMS with Supervisor Net.

Monitor, along with Paytec Technology That Counts, Monitor’s reseller in South Australia, are in the process of integrating SirsiDynix’s Horizon Library Management System (LMS) to work together with Monitor’s Supervisor Net database. The Horizon LMS is used by hundreds of libraries worldwide and because if this it was a natural progression for Monitor to integrate to this system.

The integration will allow for the Horizon LMS to send all relevant information of a patron’s account to the Supervisor Net database for library staff to monitor spend on various printers, PC’s etc. The integration also allows for patrons to pay for print and copy as well as their fees and fines. A patron’s fees and fines can now be paid for via the web using My Monitor. This innovative application permits patrons to view their account, add value as well as pay for any outstanding fines owing, all from the comfort of their home!

The Horizon LMS has up to 12 statuses for each patron such as under 18, fines, blocked. The integration with Monitor will allow for statuses to be updated in Horizon which will then be replicated in Supervisor Net by locking a patron’s account as necessary. The library has the flexibility to control these conditions as they require.

Matt Ryan of Paytec and Andrew Simmons, one of Monitor’s most experienced engineers, have been working tirelessly on completing this integration which is expected to go live in August 2011. Paytec currently have two councils that will be adopting this new development. These are the City of Charles Sturt which has 5 libraries and the City of Playford which has 2 libraries.
